(trendingpoliticsnews) – Businessman Vivek Ramaswamy stated his status as the only GOP debate attendee who is not “bought and paid for” allows him to plainly state that the “climate agenda” is a “hoax” after a question on how the candidates will convince younger voters that they care about the issue.
“The climate change agenda is a hoax,” Ramaswamy declared. “Let us be honest as Republicans. I’m the only person on this stage who isn’t bought and paid for, so I can say this: the climate change agenda is a hoax,” he continued, drawing boos from the crowd.
“The climate change agenda is a hoax, and we have to declare independence from it. And the reality is, the anti-carbon agenda is the wet blanket on our economy.”
Ramaswamy was almost immediately attacked by former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, who disparaged the political newcomer as an “amateur.”
“I’ve had enough already tonight — of a guy who sounds like Chat GPT — standing up here… and the last person who stood in these debates Bret, and stood in the middle of the stage and said ‘what’s a skinny guy with an odd last name doing up here,’ was Barrak Obama,” Christie said while glancing over at Ramaswamy. “And I’m afraid we’re dealing with the same type of amateur standing on the stage tonight.”
“Give me a hug!” Ramaswamy immediately shot back in mocking fashion. “Give me a hug, just like you did to Obama. Then you’ll help to elect me just like you did Obama.”
Ramaswamy was referencing the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, which battered New York and New Jersey just prior to the 2012 election. Christie fawned over Obama’s leadership on the issue just before the tightly contested election and barred GOP candidate Mitt Romney from visiting the disaster zone.
A number of exit polls found that Obama’s handling of Hurricane Sandy was an important factor.
